There is something I really, really love about the realness of these pictures. It was so hard to pick which ones to post. I just love how these are so real & journalistic. I love how they had their everyday clothes on with their everyday hairdo, & were relaxed & happy in their own environment just running around playing while I took their pictures! I know I keep saying the word real, so I will switch it up! I love how the memories captured are so true to who they are & to their life! We got pictures of them picking oranges off their orange tree & eating them which is something they love about their house. This was so much fun & I really enjoyed these beautiful kiddoes! I love the Hery boys! I love their mom, too! Okay, their dad is pretty cool, too, guess it's the whole family I like! Dean & I go way back to the Rhoads Elementary softball team days like 4 years ago. I think I only made it to one game, though! Your kids were exceptionally awesome especially for being four boys from the ages of almost 2 & up! I think Rebecca has super human powers to have been able to get them all dressed & out the door by herself for an 8:30 start time. Anyhow, I had so much fun with all of your boys, Rebecca. They are so cute. I really, really liked how Joshua & Jacob had so many creative ideas for posing themselves - at one point one of the twins said "Okay, I know what we should do next, put both of your hands together in the middle like this, face each other & kick your leg back!" Wow, what an excitingly busy year it has been! I am so appreciative of all the inquiries I am getting daily & all the referrals you have given me...you all have been so supportive & I never imagined having this much work my first year of business! I am so lucky! I know it won't be a huge surprise since I have been preparing you all for it, but my portfolio building is done & KGP will have a different price stucture in 2011. For those of you who already have contracts for sessions, this does not pertain to you. I have decided that I need to offer a wider range of services, including printing, & a wider range of session options to my clients. I will be adding print options, options to buy the CD, & things like mini-sessions, maybe even some type of baby's first year package. I am also working on re-working my scheduling so that I will have even more slots available each week & don't have to turn people away as much for being booked....I hate that! I will no longer be able to give the disc away with the session fee but getting a disc will still be an option...I know that is a favorite for some of you. I want to structure my packages to best fit what my clients like & since I am still in the process of finalizing all of this, I welcome you to let me know what you'd like to see in the packages I offer you. I am in the process of working on a new upgraded, professional blog & have been for weeks...when I launch it in January, I will have all of the new package options available to see. I am excited about all of this year's experiences & all the friends I have made along the way. JDRF: Rock the Cure

This morning was the JDRF Walk....what a success! It was really COLD & way too early but soooo many people came out. Last I heard, the amount earned was $1.2 million! And that was without all the race day donations. How great that is...hopefully it'll help find a cure! It is so heartwarming to see the support some of the walkers get - TONS of people come out to walk for just one person. I know that must make them feel so special & so supported. That would be a great feeling! My team is pictured below...it consisted of John, Garrett & my sweet friend Kristie & her son, Connor. Kristie-it meant the world to me that you were there...really it did! I am so lucky to have you as a friend...you are so appreciated. And John, you, too, honey!

KGP earned $580! $80 over the goal....YAY! I really thank the people who donated from the bottom of my heart. That was so cool of you :) I feel so lucky to have been able to be a part of this event. I took pictures for almost 5 hours & it went by so fast. I could just hug & squeeze every little boy & girl I saw there. I am so proud of those kids. They all seemed so positive & upbeat & you can tell being a Type 1 diabetic doesn't stop them. At first I wanted to cry just thinking about how young some of them are & how it is not fair & how that must be hard for them (just knowing how hard it is for me to be a Type 1 diabetic as an adult I only can imagine it'd be harder on a 4 year old kid), but then I realized that they don't feel sorry for themselves & they don't think of themselves as any different than anyone else. (Woah, that sentence was a run-on!) They probably wouldn't want anyone to feel sorry for them & they all seemed so happy. Most of the Type 1 Diabetics wore blue hats so you could see who they were. I tried to take as many pictures of them as I could since they were who we were celebrating.

The members of Team KGP! Kristie, Connor, John, Garrett & me (but I couldn't walk with them since I was taking pictures).

It was precious little angels like this that made my day. Oh and the fact that I got to have a driver take me all over the site in a golf cart! I love golf carts :)

So glad JDRF allowed me to volunteer my time at the big race! Thank you for supporting JDRF & helping us get closer to a cure!

Aaww I love this family! I know many times I say on my blog that I had fun at the session & I always mean it, but this family was SO FUN. You will be able to see that as you look through their pictures. I love that they went barefoot & kicked back in the grass. Their pictures are so natural & easy going due to their fun attitudes about pictures. The boys had tons of personality & were very willing to do what I wanted. When I asked Sarah what it was like to have 3 boys, she said "Loud!" I thought that was funny.

This was Dad's idea to hang on the jungle gym Awesome! I have NEVER had a client (especially of the male variety) get into it so much & come up with such creativity. I love it!

For their second shirts, they let the boys pick their favorite shirt that they feel good in. What a great idea!

I am so happy for you guys! I had fun taking your pictures. It was my personal goal to make Ryan smile the entire time after Christina said he wasn't smiling in any of their wedding pictures! I may have only succeeded in a smirk, but that's better than nothing, right!? I am so used to having tricks for making kids smile...the only trick I could come up with for an adult was to tell him that he could talk smack about me behind my back if it made him laugh or smile! We'll try again when Baby Rowan gets here, I bet she will make him smile for the camera :)

Sun flare!

I have a new found appreciation to sun flare & hazy, sunny shots thanks to an awesome workshop I have been taking for a month now. I always loved shooting into the sun but even more now thanks to Beth at Elizabeth Ross Photography & all the other awesome CM pros.

This is one of my favorite sun flare shots I have taken yet. I noticed this when glancing through the pictures from my session yesterday while downloading & I just had to share it! I will edit the rest of their session later...off to finish Baby Rowan's parents session!

Wow, it has been a busy week! I have been dying to blog these pictures I took in Hearne last weekend! I know I always say that my clients are nice or fun, but I really mean it. I seriously have the best clients! This family was so accomodating, it warmed my heart & made me feel right at home immediately. They insisted that Garrett & John make the drive out to Hearne & spend the day with us, too, then invited us all over for lunch afterwards. If you only knew how much my time with my family means to me, you'd understand how much I sincerely appreciated that...it made me want to cry! That was so so thoughtful & unselfish. I loooove your home, Richard & Suzy. It is beautiful & perfect & a photographer's dream. I also love your family. And I loooved spending time with all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me into your home & treating me like family! I wanted to post a quick picture of each family. It was hard to choose which ones to post as I have lots of favorites. I am not even done editing yet, but I wanted to post these for you to see while you are waiting. I love how silly Steven & Stephanie are together. Look at the pictures above....tilting, tilting and....LEG FLIP! I love them! They are such an adorable couple & are so perfect for each other!

Steven & Stephanie met at Taylor High School so I wanted to incorporate that into their shoot somehow. Plus Brooklyn's middle name is Taylor :) They are both coaches & very sporty! Stephanie loooooves soccer. (If you know her, you know I am being a little sarcastic here!). But Steven coaches soccer & has played since he was a wee-tyke so I made him juggle the ball for some pictures.

I am more than thrilled to say that I am getting several inquiries a day for pictures. It makes me soo happy because I LOVE my job! What makes me sad is when I have to turn people away. Sometimes it is easy for me to take on too much simply because I genuinely love it so much, but I also need to keep myself in check in knowing that my family needs me more than they are getting. I have officially overbooked myself for October & November. I am so excited about all the things I have coming up. If I have established contact with you through email or phone & we are working out the details, then you don't count in this :) For everyone else, looks like October & November are officially full unless there are any cancellations. December is my next available month. Please contact me if you'd like pictures taken in December! Remember you can always send a New Years card instead of a Christmas card :) For anyone I have to turn away, please know that it breaks my heart that I can't take your pictures for you! And I hope this isn't the last time I hear from you....please come back to me next time for your pictures!

Is this girl not PRECIOUS?! She is sooo incredibly photogenic & fun to take pictures of. I usually expect kids to have a little level of difficulty somewhere in the session because afterall, they are KIDS! But I love them for that - and that's why I teach elementary school & photograph kids. But never was there a moment of difficulty with Milana...it was unreal! She worked it for the camera the entire time! She is so funny. I am glad to call her (& her parents) friends. She really is a sweetheart. Garrett had fun playing with you after pictures, Milana! Happy 2nd Birthday! We love you!
P.S. If you want to marry Garrett one day, I'd be OK with that ;)

Garrett & I went to the dog park & found these horse apples (If that's even what they are called! That's what John said, but I have never heard of such a thing!) They had such cool texture & seemed like something I could use in a picture. We went back the next day with our wagon to pick them.

Look at all of the many faces of Milana! It's awesome...all they have to say is - "Do your happy face!" (Sad face, silly, surprised, whatever! She will do it on command!)

I am still trying to figure out all that I can do with these blog-it boards, but here's my first try!
Next up, figuring out how to properly re-size them to fit in the entire square.

I love this couple! Valerie & Ian were so laid back & easy going. They would do any thing I asked & I brought some pretty silly ideas with me to that session! Valerie is a very good scrapbooker & I was thinking of her scrapbook pages with some of the ideas in mind (like the watermelons...very silly). Not knowing them, I was thinking "what will they think of my crazy ideas?" But they were so easy & fun the entire time! I cannot wait to meet the watermelon 0 his name will be Ethan. Valerie is very talented...not only is she an engineer but a freaking awesome knitter - she makes hats, blankets, etc. I can't wait until she opens up a shop...I will give you her information when it happens & you will see lots of her hats on my clients because I know I will want to buy everything from her!

Valerie's mom calls them "Ethan's mom" & "Ethan's dad" on the phone now when she calls...so we thought it would be cute to write that on the sign! :)

He slept most the time & was very bendy & tolerant of all of the poses we put him in at the ripe age of three days old. Krista requested City Centre & I am so glad that she did. What a fun location! There is so much variety there. I was so excited when I saw a vacant store with the doors wide open. We were brave & went in for some pictures - there wasn't a No Trespassing sign. Plus we decided we'd just blame it on Danny if we got in trouble :) That empty store made for such cute, unexpected pictures!

Brynna is two now & so much fun. She never complained! I think Garrett has met his match in the female form for having tons of energy. I think he & Brynna would have fun chasing each other around!

His mom is a friend of one of my best friends & we've been communicating so much through the pregnancy that I felt like I already knew her! It was really nice to meet you guys. I had fun with you! From the dog incident (I'll spare the details!), to the poop & pee, you kept me laughing :) Speaking of that, poor Courtney got peed & pooped on which required an outfit change, but she jus kept smiling right through it! You get the Great Attitude Award! We got off to a rough start, but Jay did great & we got some precious pictures of him.

This is Peyton. An amazingly enthusiastic, energetic, kind-hearted, sassy, beautiful five year old. Looking at her energy & spunk, you would never know that she has Large Cell Lymphoma & is in the middle of her chemo treatments. She is AMAZING. Peyton is the type of girl that makes you happy to be around. I got to hang out with her for about 45 minutes this morning & she made me want to be around her longer! She is just that kind of kid. Without knowing it, she is an inspiration with her sunny disposition, optimistic attitude, gorgeous smile & genuine sweetness. She is a one of a kind & at only five years old, she is so strong. Peyton - you should be so proud of yourself.

She was diagnosed in October 2009 at Stage 2 & it is an aggressive cancer, so her mom resigned from teaching last year to be with her as they make trips to the hospital for treatments. This journey has been so expensive & I can only imagine how tough it has been on her parents to have a child go through that. Big Brother balloon for the big bro!

It was sooo hot outside so we cooled off inside with some grapes...

I loved hanging out with the B's last Saturday. I got to photograph them at their house which was really personable & nice for a change! They will be moving soon, so it'll be nice to have those memories of their GORGEOUS home. I LOVED it. It made me want to redecorate immediately or just hire Jennifer to do it! Not sure if you can tell being that Jennifer is the tiniest pregnant person I have ever seen, but she is due very soon....maybe as short as a week! I think I was bigger at 5 months than she is now! I am so excited because I will get to photograph baby Hannah when she comes home from the hospital. I can't wait. I have been planning hats for a while now. I love babies! I headed out to Katy Heritage Park with one of my friends sons who you may recognize if you've looked at previous posts on this blog...I've gotten to take pictures of Cameron 3 or 4 times now. He is a charm! And I love Kim - she's so easy going & will do anything (safe) with Cam for the sake of good pictures! Well..these were supposed to be a Father's Day surprise but Kim just couldn't keep the pictures to herself, so Chris knows already! I looooove Cameron & all of his 391 rolls. He's so snuggleable (is that a word?!). His dad happens to be a pretty awesome golfer so Kim had the idea to take pictures with Cameron's awesome golf club set. It is a full-blown golf bag & clubs that are just like the ones made for adults except it's mini....how cool is that?!

AAaahhh....love. Taking pictures of Annie & Mark made me miss being engaged! They have that spark! They are one of those cute couples who play off each other so well & they kept me laughing. They would pretty much do anything for me & trusted my vision on everything which is so nice! Annie also brought some ideas of her own which is fun, too! I love that they had to tell me before the session how "un-photogenic" they are...they couldn't have been more wrong! I love their pictures....every single one of them. Well hello there, Sydney!

This is one of my sweet friends & her adorable family. Cam is such a good boy. He is so chill all the time. This particular day was nasty hot & Cam wasn't his smiley usual self (although still so good)...we're going to try again one day when it isn't so hot or hit up the splashpad so we can get more pictures that show his fun personality! Sydney (the dog) was quite the little model & seemed like she enjoyed getting her picture taken. I love both of their kids!

I was so excited to get to meet Brady last week. He is the adorable son of one of my good friends. His big brother is Garrett's buddy. Brady is such a CUTIE! He is just perfect. He was so much fun to photograph. I couldn't have asked for an easier baby! He let me stick him in baskets, wrap him in just about whatever I wanted & wear funny hats! He just slept right through it all. Erika made it easy on me by making sure he had a full belly. I was so glad that they were cool with me taking pictures so early (I think he was about 9 or 10 days old)...that is the key to getting good newborn pictures! These are my good, good friends Jenni & Clay & their son, Connor. They came all the way from North Carolina for a birthday party & a wedding which meant I got to see them! I got to take pictures of sweet Gage again. The last time I saw him, he was just a teeny newborn! He is now 3 & 1/2 months old & a big boy! I think the kid might weigh as much as Garrett who is almost 2! He has the cutest, chubbiest little legs & I could squeeze his cheeks! I had to sneak some pictures in of his BIG sister, too, because she is also just the cutest thing. She is gorgeous & I loved the boots. Look at both of their eyes....wow!

Happy Birthday, Sage! I had so much fun at the party! This family knows how to throw parties! I was with them last weekend at Desmond's party, too, so we got to spend two weekends in a row together. Jenni & her parents paid for me to take pictures at Sage's party as his birthday present. That was extra exciting for me, because not only did I get to take pictures at a fun party, but I got to see Jenni longer! (She & Clay live in North Carolina now so I never get to see them or sweet Connor).
